I'm so glad I saw you on Bonnie's show. My son just got out of the hospital for being suicidal. He's twenty three years old and has suffered from depression since he was a small child. Your documentary gives me hope.
Just saw you, Joe Pantoliano on The Bonnie Hunt show today. All tho I'm probably one of like ONE million that didn't watch "The Sopranos", I did see Risky Business.....luv Tom Cruise's slide across the dance floor in that movie.
What I find more interesting is that people like yourself - are finally stepping up and getting their words out........people, many, many people are suffering some sort of brain dis -ease. I luv how ya worded that on your "About Us" page. Cause that is really what illness is.......
Illness it a "DIS EASINESS" with whatever part is not functioning.
So your mission statement is to remove the stigma attached to brain dis-ease. My question is this......Do you think that I could make a Posterbored of the web site with handouts for people? We have a local little fair that happens in the month of June and perhaps I can get in on spreading this message from my little vantage point. I have some other ideas so will be in contact with more.
Wow! This video is something.......So Powerful!! So Emotional! I watched you today on The Bonnie Hunt Show on King5 NBC Seattle, WA. which is how I found out about this site.
I'm now a member.
It is very refreshing to hear a public figure voice their own personal issues. I want to promote this more....ya LET'S STOMP OUT THE STIGMA!!! dAMit!!!!!!!
I deal with Mental Illness in that I have Severe Depression, OCD and Anxiety! I want to know more and do more! Gotta get a bite to eat will come back again.
WOW !!! The trailer is SO powerful !! I am in awe, truly! I am a BIG advocate for Changing Stigma of Mental Illness. Lost my youngest sister to suicide in Dec. 2007. For 35 years, she lived with SchizoAffective Disorder, in essence, BiPolar & Schizophrenic. In the early years of her diagnosis, late 60's - early 70's, not one Doctor asked if we would like to be included in knowing MORE about her diagnosis...We had to do all the research (and back then, there was no "Google" to search for illnesses and/or solutions/treatments/what to expect...etc., etc...etc. Amazingly enough, she had a fairly decent life and married and produced a beautiful 18 y.o. daughter!!
I am SOOOO excited about what you are doing!!! BRAVO!! The world needs more folks like YOU to get the word out. I applaud your efforts!!
If I can be of any help to YOU with this project, nationally or in the state of Louisiana, PLEASE let me know.
I work in the field of Suicide Pre-Vention and Post-Vention. If folks only understood the enormous numbers of people walking around that are UN-diagnosed or MIS-diagnosed, they could "possibly" understand one reason for such drastic action.
I was just recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and started treament - Lamotrigine and therapy - I accidently cruised into this site and (I am having an extremely hard time dealing with this new label) and watching this video - I felt for the first time a sense of relief in knowing that I am not alone and actually in great company. I am a Director of Music Ministry - basically my job is Praising and Worshiping the Lord via my music. This is not an easy task to follow through when faced with anger at the Lord...I also have a son that is autistic .....I cannot recall a single moment in my life where I felt "normal" the list of mental illness in my gene pool would make Darwin cringe. In watching the video- I feel - hey - I am not alone....maybe I can manage this...... thank you for taking on this project...God Bless you.....I think I can get through tonight.
