My dad died of alzheimer's ten years ago today. He was a student of history, amongst other things. - Pearl Harbor Day was a historical date that affected his life greatly. He graduated from KSU in 1942 and served in the South Pacific. I will try to post this on the same minute that he died (ten years later).

The "mind" is an interesting organ. It has many "A-bilities" ! That is pronounced "UH"-bilities with the emphasis on the first syllable. I have been pronouncing it that way for a couple of years now. I tell people that my twin sons have the uh'-bility to memorize, retain, and recall hundreds (actually thousands) of facts about all kinds of movies and documentaries. They also just "happened to have" a mental illness.   

My dad had a long and interesting life. He used his mental uh'-bilities well. His friends always said that he had a photographic memory. I am just glad that there is an excellent possibility that his smarts and mental uh'-bilities - (even though probably skipping a generation) - got passed down to all of my children, both of them . . . patrickthecritic (nkm2) - and - seanthewriter . . . ( "seanthewriter" coming soon to a mental health awareness website near you - after he gets out of the state hospital ! ) 

I am sure that a lot of you have heard of cases where people, in the final stages of their lives, try to make it to the next memorable date . . . Even in the final stages of 7 years of alzheimer's - whether coherent or incoherent - consciously or subconsciously - my dad's brain used it's uh'-bility to make it to the middle of Pearl Harbor Day in the year 2000 !  . . .  Almost exactly  -  11:55 A.M.  Central Time  -  9:55 A.M. Eastern Time

STILL  VERY  VERY  VERY  PROUD

EVEN IN A MANIC PHASE  -  OR ESPECIALLY IN A MANIC PHASE

My son patrickthecritic is in day eleven of a semi-annual "high-level" manic phase that usually lasts 2 or 3 weeks ( awake 36 hours, asleep 12 hours ), with non-stop talking, laughing, dancing, and going in and out of various characters in movies. - -  It is a complete and total HOOT ! 

Dictionary.com - hoot - 13.  Slang . an extremely funny person, situation, or event:   .........   that's what happening right now   .......   like NAMI says "celebrate what you can celebrate"  ........   we celebrate daily, and we will double our celebration when Patrick's twin brother gets out of the North Texas State Hospital - Wichita Falls.

Patrick is always able to write his opinions about movies and music as he did Saturday  11-13-10 

high level manic phase  =  high level of honesty ( about everything ! )

ATTENTION  FRIENDS !   past, present, and future !

Once again !  -  -  please read the previous blog ( entitled "Holding On" ) by our new best friend drxjm. ( we have lots of best friends - drxjm is our new one - the next one will be "another new best friend" ! )

She brought tears to my eyes again. Maybe more tears this time because 7-25-10 was the 8 year annivrsary of Sean's first psychotic break. I talked to him last week at the "state" hospital - he sounds great and might get out next month ! 

Hey drxjm - can we call you "doctor x" ?   You can recommend treatment for the "hard core skeptics" that might  "x"  out (totally eliminate) the part of their collective brains that contains stigma. Hey Joey ! How about a 5 minute video where we open up one of those brains and physically extract the whatever-colored ooze that is stigma !  -  MK

Everybody  PLEASE READ  the previous blog posted early this am (7-22-10)  It hit close to home and brought tears to my eyes.

To drxjm, disregard the hardcore skeptics entirely and completely and for a long, long time. Continue educating the basic skeptic daily as well as everybody else !  But pace yourself  and tell them about the good stuff and the fun stuff !
