I need support! I have a father with mental illness and a grown daughter with mental illness and I need your help keeping me afloat. Please any thoughts are welcome. I love you all!
Thank you for responding. I haven't restarted smoking yet, but boy it is hard with the circumstances!

Hi there I am on my break from work. I knew something was not right with my daughter when she was 2 and had her first seizure, but I was told over and over by "professionals" that it was just a stage, or she would grow out of it, or it was behavior, etc. etc. She now is diagnosed with Mild MR, PDD-NOS, adjustment disorder, depression, anxiety, seizures, OCD and paranoia. My father has depression, OCD, and I believe early onset dementia. I feel like I am in a cage with all these people pulling at me, needing me, yet needing to take care of myself (yes you are right!). It takes every ounce of me not to start smoking again because i quit 4 years ago. I am so glad you are here for me!

What kinds of brain dis-ease are your rels plagued with?
My son also suffers from severe depression- i wish there was somin i could do to help him, but he flatout refuses to talk to anyone about it.
The MOST important thing is to remeber is to take care of YOURSELF. (i know...they all say that), but anything you can find to do to take yer mind off all the other stuff will help make you more resiliant.
i do have one little wonder in my life; its my little dog, Chelsea. She's a dachsund/yorkie (dorkie) and some idiot threw her out of a truck, my son saw it and called me and i went and rescued her. she's been my best friend depression dog for about five years now. We just about lost her a coupla months ago, when she got real sick with bronchitis- she nearly died. But the doc put her one prednisolone and now shes all fat and sassy.
My son has a friend with schizophrenia- kids one hell of a guitarist, but they keep him so doped up he's barely cognizant most of the time. He's one of the sweetest kids you'd ever wanna meet- would giveya the shirt off his back...
i have to say this- the over doping of folks like us is a terrible danger-just as it is with the elderly-i really believe alot of this has to do with Big Pharmie offering kickbacks to those who push alot of drugs. The higher the sales the better the tweeks and swag...
Didja hear about the new drug they're gonna start pushin? its called sarafem and its being marketed for PMDD- turns out; its actually PAXIL- they've just refashioned and repackaged it- its the same frikken drug! But you can bet they'll push it at a much higher price under its new branding label.
Big Pharmie is as much bullshite as Big Insurance, Big Finance and Big Republica.
i hope you can find some way to keep yer sanity when all about you...well you know the rest Course its really hard in todays twilight zone...MO
DL: WELCOME ! I signed up here in December but this is my first time to leave any kind of a comment. The last several weeks I have been reading a lot on this site, even back to blog #1 by administrator. There are a lot of people who care here, a lot of support here, a lot of help here, and a whole lot of thinking and talking. That's a good thing. - - -
Like what Dan28Jam said in paragraph 5 of his "about me" section - - "When you're ready, we"ll be here waiting" - - - Well, I am finally ready to offer and receive support and help. DL, you said any thoughts are welcome. I agree, any and all thoughts.
My 25 year old fraternal twins each have a different "late-onset" mental illness, one with schizophrenia and one with bipolar. The last 8 years have been quite challenging, but we've had help from Medicaid and SSI. Also my dad had alzeimers the last several years of his life. What does your dad and your daughter have?
The outlet my twins have had for many, many years are all kinds of movies and documentaries. We met Joey in Illinois in April of 2008, NYC last Oct. and Minn. in Dec. Thank you Joey. One of my sons has a profile here. It really helps. So, DL, I am finally ready to share my story. I hope you are too. - - AMC - - (Mike) P.S. My son's grandparents are from Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas. Also, I recommend just skipping around this website reading various profiles and blogs.
