Blueslifter: My Journey
Posted On 12/07/2010 01:53:38 by Blueslifter

I get clean and sober on September 25th, 1988 and began dealing with my severe depression and anxiety.  I was diagnosed and treated intensely for severe PTSD from childhood sexual abuse.   After five incredible years of Mental Health and Twelve Step recovery, I left the oil and gas industry and began studying for a degree in psychology followed by a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Since 1997 I have been a Family Therapist primarily serving as a Clinical Team Leader on an inpatient Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit in Houston, Texas.  I have developed specialties in the treatment of Chronic Mental Illness specifically Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective, Bipolar, and Major Depressive disorders.  I have been blessed to have patients who have taught me so much more than I ever learned in books.

My screen name Blueslifter is a twist on my vocation as a Family Therapist and my passion since my teen years for Blues Music, which always chases away my blues.
