This is in response to your reply about spam getting into your email. When someone leaves a comment on one of your blog posts or from your profile, the software running on the site delivers it to the email address you signed up with. The good thing about it is that it doesn't mean your email address is visible. There's an option in the profile settings I think, where you can uncheck "email new messages." Then you'll only be notified of new messages or comments when you log in. If I'm not mistaken.
